Accessibility statement.

Accessibility is the product. The people we serve use screen readers, AAC devices, switch access, and magnifiers, and so do many of their families. This site should work for all of them.

What we aim for

We build to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA. That means:

  • Text and buttons with strong color contrast, set large enough to read on a phone.
  • Every page works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus ring and a “Skip to main content” link.
  • Buttons and links are at least 44 pixels tall so they’re easy to tap or switch to.
  • Every photo has a written description. Form fields have labels, and errors are announced.
  • Text can be enlarged to 200% without losing anything.
  • Motion is gentle and turns off if your device is set to reduce motion. Nothing plays sound on its own.
  • An easy read page in short sentences with big type and pictures.

About the photos

Some photos on this site are illustrations made to show what a day at Allen looks and feels like. They are not photos of people enrolled in our program. We’ll replace them with real photography, taken with permission.
